  •             Her childhood was spent in learning music & dance from her father Pt. Birju Maharaj. She received her formal training in sculpture from the College of Art , Delhi University from 1984 to 88. She was awarded the Gold medal from College of Art , Delhi in 1988. The same year she was awarded by the Sahitya Kala Parishad at the Yuva Mahotsava.  She received the ‘Special Mention’ Award at the All India Henry Moore Sculpture Competition in 1988 organised by the British Council. She was awarded the Junior Fellowship from the Dept. of Culture, Ministry of HRD,  Govt. of India in 1992.

 

  •      She has dabbled in a host of media. Over the years she has created sculptures in stone,   terracotta, fibre-glass, cement concrete and metal.

 

  •      She has held eighteen one man shows and participated in numerous group shows & artist camps in India and abroad. Anita has installed several murals and sculptures at public places and corporate offices. Her works are in the collections of art institutions and private art collectors.

 

  •      She is presently working as a Director, at the Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University at Noida.

 

  •      Anita lives and works in Noida, adjacent to New Delhi .
