The
Eye Within is a non profit-making organization of Art.
Since its inception in 1996, we have devoted itself fully
into the promotion of contemporary Indian art and artists.
Colours
for Tomorrow
was a unique attempt of ours to promote
art-awareness among the children, with whom lay the future
of our country. We had selected children from all sections
of the society- slums, physically and mentally challenged
sections, the intellectual section. At different schools
and venues, we did art camps to judge the consciousness of
creativity among children. Among them we selected the
first hundred in whom the spark of creativity is most
potent. We gave them the opportunity to participate in the
two-days’ workshop in Victoria Memorial Hall. There they
learnt the basics of drawing and sketches from the eminent
painters. Our motto was to give rise to the feeling of
one-ness among the children of various classes of the
society.
In this project, The Eye Within had collaborated with ‘Victoria
Memorial’.The first preliminary class took place
in 28th of August in the Indian Institute of
Cerebral Palsy.The second

promising, talented children was given an opportunity to
interact with the eminent artists like Subrata Pal,

Karmakar, Sumita Pal, Khan Jayanta, Shyamashree Basu and
young artists like Arya Chandra Choudhury, Durbananda
Jana, Rajib Deyashi. They learnt the basics of drawing and
sketches from them. As these children mostly came from the
deprived section of the society, it was a life- time
opportunity for them. And we, The Eye Within, were honored
and most glad to give them the opportunity.
The
paintings that were collected from the camp were put up
for an exhibition in the Palladian Lounge, at Bengal
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
