IMPRINTS OFF  A SENSITIVE SOUL : A solo exhibition of paintings by the senior painter Amitava Banerjee was held from 19^th March to 2^nd April, 2008 at Akar Prakar Art Gallery,  Kolkata. Regarding the painter the renowned art critic Manosij Majumder said, "In Amitava's figurative images the characters are imaginary, fleshing out the artist's own subjectivity scarred and chequered by the tensions and turmoil, he has gone through in his social and personal spheres of life". The eminent painter Paritosh Sen also expressed his reaction about Amitava Banerjee, "Patience and hard thinking backed by desire to avoid easy solutions seemed to be his motto. Lines and tones played an important part in the shapes of images on his plates. The fragile quality of lines added to the poetic quality of imageries"
